SITE HISTORY & MISSION STATEMENT
This site was created in 1998 and hosted on GeoCities. It was one of only two websites at the time that were totally devoted to TGAH. In 2000, the site was registered under the domain greatestamericanhero.com. The site grew substantially as I increased the amount of material about the show on the web.
Later, in 2004, I was honored to be contacted by Anchor Bay Entertainment who had just signed a deal with Stephen J. Cannell Productions to distribute the series on DVD. I provided the company with information, contacts, and written material for the 3 season DVD sets that were eventually released in the coming year.
The site functioned under greatestamericanhero.com until a comedy of errors caused the loss of that name in 2006. Before the previous domain expired in that same year, it was changed to the-greatest-american-hero.com. Recently a long time fan mentioned to me that "you are a historian when it comes to this series" After thinking about his remark I decided to adopt the domain with the archives title as the primary domain. I still own the previous domain along with tgaharchives.com & TGAH ARCHIVES You Tube channel
The mission of this site and myself is to acquire and preserve all archival material that document the creation, production, and broadcast of The Greatest American Hero. This site is used to arrange and describe these materials and make them accessible to the public on the internet for those who are interested in the history of the series. In doing so, it is my hope to bring recognition to the people in front of the camera, and the many, many others unrecognized behind the scenes, who worked long hours to turn a regular guy into a hero.
